Our Vision
Found Space Theatre exists to provide high-quality, inclusive theatre education for children and teens in a creative space where every student can discover confidence and belonging. We believe the performing arts are not a luxury, but rather are a vital tool for expression, learning, and building resilient young people.
What We Believe
As we build Found Space Theatre, these values are guiding every decision:
• Belonging – We will create an environment where every child feels welcome and seen.
• Creativity – We want students to explore bold ideas and express their individuality.
• Inclusion – Our programming will be designed to serve children of all abilities, including those with developmental disabilities.
• Growth – We aim to help young people grow in confidence, collaboration, and resilience.
• Joy – Theatre should be magical, meaningful, and fun—for everyone involved.
What Makes Us Different
Found Space Theatre will:
• Prioritize inclusion, with specific support for students with disabilities.
• Create theatre classes and productions that welcome beginners and seasoned performers alike.
• Focus on community, connection, and confidence, not just competition or talent.
• Operate as a nonprofit with a mission-first model, keeping access affordable for families.
• Offer sensory-friendly performances and adaptive opportunities for participation.
Kat Vann is the founder and Executive Director of Found Space Theatre. With years of hands-on directing experience and more than 27 youth productions behind her, Kat has built a strong reputation for creating meaningful theatre experiences for children and teens across North Jefferson County. She began teaching theatre in 2018 and has since developed an inclusive theatre curriculum and worked closely with dozens of local families.
Kat is passionate about helping young people discover their voice, explore their creativity, and experience the sense of belonging she found in theatre as a teenager. As Found Space launches its inaugural season, she serves as both the Executive Director and lead teaching artist, guiding every class and production while the organization grows toward welcoming additional teaching artists who share this heart for community-centered arts education.
For Kat, this work is deeply personal.
"Theatre gave me a space to belong when I needed it most. My hope is that every child who comes through our doors feels that same sense of being seen and valued."
